This manual is published in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA), read with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). It explains how to request access to records held by Tayie (Pty) Ltd, operating the Hirewaar platform.

Body details

Tayie (Pty) Ltd is a private body as defined in PAIA. This manual is available on this page free of charge and, on request, in another accessible format where reasonably practicable.

Information Officer

Requests under PAIA or POPIA are handled by our Information Officer: privacy@tayie.com. General support enquiries can go to support@tayie.com.

Records we hold

Records are generally held electronically. Categories include:

  • Account and profile records — names, contact details, addresses, CVs, portfolios, and introduction media submitted by candidates;
  • Employer and company records — company profiles, job listings, applications received, and messages exchanged on the platform;
  • Consent records — a timestamped log of policy acceptances (terms, privacy, disclaimer, cookie, and acceptable-use policies) tied to each account;
  • Billing records — credit purchases, subscription and wallet history, and payment confirmations from our payment processor (Paystack);
  • Support records — support cases, correspondence, and requests logged with our team, including POPIA access, correction, and deletion requests;
  • Technical and security records — login events and access logs kept for fraud prevention and platform integrity.

How to request access

Two related, but distinct, processes are available:

1. Your own personal information (POPIA)

If you are a Hirewaar user, the quickest route is self-service: candidates can download a data export or request account deletion from their privacy settings when signed in, and employers can do the same from their company privacy settings. Other POPIA access, correction, or objection requests can be sent directly to the Information Officer at the address above — no prescribed form is required, but please include enough detail (full name, account email, and what you are requesting) for us to verify your identity and locate the records.

2. Records generally (PAIA)

To request access to a record that is not your own personal information — for example, records relating to how the platform operates — submit a written request to the Information Officer specifying:

  • Your name, contact details, and (if requesting on behalf of someone else) proof of authority;
  • A description of the record requested, in enough detail to allow us to locate it;
  • The form of access requested (for example, a copy by email);
  • The right you are seeking to exercise or protect, if access is required to exercise or protect a right.

We will respond within the timeframes prescribed by PAIA (ordinarily 30 days of a valid request). A prescribed fee may apply for requests under PAIA (not for your own personal information under POPIA, which is provided free of charge). Access may be refused on grounds permitted by PAIA — for example, where a record contains another person's personal information, privileged material, or commercially sensitive third-party information — and reasons will be given for any refusal.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled a PAIA or POPIA request, or with how we process your personal information generally, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
